September is Newborn Screening Awareness Month

Mark your calendar . . . September has been declared Newborn Screening Awareness month in a collaborative effort between numerous parent's groups including:

  • MSUD Family Support Group
  • PKU Parents of California
  • Western NY PKU Association
  • PKU Organization of Wisconsin
  • National Coalition for PKU & Allided Disorders
  • Parents of Galactosemic Children
  • Mid Alantic Connection for PKU & Allied Disorders
  • FOD Family Support Group members
  • Kansas PKU Network, Magic Foundation
  • New England Connection for PKU & Allied Disorders
  • Mitochondrial Disease Outreach Center
  • The Organic Acidemia Association
  • National Urea Cycle Disorder Foundation

Many events will be taking place during this month to show support for NBS. Events include wearing NBS lapels pins everyday in September and the Handout America Campaign where NBS handouts are being distributed by volunteers nationwide

Newborn screening lapels pins are being sold in the months of July and August to be worn everyday in September as a symbol of support for newborn screening. The aforementioned groups have also joined forces to sell the pins and hope to sell at least 20,000 pins by September 30.

PGC is excited to announce that it will be participating in the awareness pin campaign. Numerous disorder support groups are participating and everyone is asked to wear the pins everyday in September for Newborn Screening Awareness month. PGC will be supplying Newborn Screening lapel pins to interested individuals for a donation of $2.00 each. Proceeds from pins distributed through PGC will benefit PGC. Help us support our kids !!

To Purchase Pins

PGC will be selling the pins for $2 each and all profits will go to the PGC. If you would like the profits to go to PGC, please contact Evelyn Rice (President/PGC) for your pin. Send your name, address, number of pins, and a donation check ($2 for each pin) made payable to PGC to:
