Didem Demirbas, PhD
Dr. Demirbas is a molecular biologist, she completed her PhD at Boston College in 2011. Her graduate work focused on using a yeast-based system for discovering novel small molecules for inhibiting phosphodiesterase enzymes. She recently completed training in clinical biochemical genetics at Harvard Medical School. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Gerard Berry’s lab at Boston Children’s Hospital. Her primary research focus is on galactosemia. She has developed induced pluripotent stem cell based models from individuals with classic galactosemia. She is studying the galactosemia pathophysiology using patient derived stem cells and differentiated neurons in combination with novel molecular biology tools and LC-MS/MS based metabolite detection methods.
